The Sight Word Pointillism is a fine motor activity designed for artistic/spatial learners with disabilities to practice their fine motor control. Students trace letters with a Q-tip dipped in paint. Controlling the Q-tip gives students some great strengthening exercise while they practice their sight words.

Technical Specifications: 

Step One: Gather Materials:

  • Q-tip
  • Paint
  • Paper
  • Permanent marker

Step Two: The teacher writes a sight word on each piece of paper with permanent maker.

Step Three: The student dips one end of the Q-tip in the paint and dots the sight word with the Q-tip.

Step Four: Student repeats the sight word they are dotting each time they make a dot.
