Lap Buddy to Help Fidgeting

The Lap Buddy is a DIY designed to help with fidgeting and to provide weight and touch for students who have autism spectrum disorder and/or learning disabilities such as ADHD. 

Technical Specifications: 

Materials:

  • socks, leggings, or tights
  • 2-5 pounds of rice
  • essential oils (optional)
  • buttons, beads, or something for the eyes
  • ribbon (optional)
  • scissors
  • glue gun or needle and thread

Directions:

Step 1: Cut leggings or tights legs off, or start with the sock.

Step 2: Tie knot in the end (tie the raw end of leggings and flip knot inside) add ribbon at this point for tongue if you wish.

Step 3: Sew or glue on eyes.

Step 4: Add essential oils to rice and pour into the Buddy.

Step 5: Tie off end.

Step 6: Add any more decorations such as more beads or ribbon

If the tights are too thin use both legs sections doubled up to make a thicker skin for the Lap Buddy
