The Catapult is a lever drive wheelchair designed for people with balance disabilities. It a prototype that uses both the upward and downward motion of the levers to move the chair forward. The brake is on the right handle and the gear shift is attached to the left handle, which brakes both back wheels simultaneously. The steering for the wheelchair is controlled via the user’s feet offering people with physical disabilities the opportunity to play sports and not live such a sedentary life. In this version, the steering for the wheelchair is controlled through the user’s feet located on the outriggers on the front wheel. There is also a model which can be steered using hands and arms for those not capable of using their legs.
