GalaPro

GalaPro is a mobile application designed to help individuals with hearing loss access free real-time closed captioning in order to participate in live performing arts shows. This mobile application is designed to be used in airplane mode so no phone calls or texts disturb the performance. The GalaPro has low screen brightness such that non-users in the audience are not disrupted. Users can select either dark pink or gray lettering on a black background which is by design so that only the individual looking at their device can see it. Users can also zoom in to increase text size on the closed captions. To connect, select the GalaPro Wi-Fi network, select the appropriate show, then select "Start". Using voice recognition, GalaPro’s real-time closed captions will start automatically when the show starts.
