Austin American-Statesman - 7/1/2020

A Capital Metro driver died Tuesday after testing positive for COVID-19, the disease linked to the coronavirus, Capital Metro officials said.

The employee was an operator for MetroAccess, Capital Metro's shared-ride service for people with disabilities, and his last day of work was on June 16. Two days later, the employee tested positive for COVID-19 and died on June 30, officials said.

He worked for Medical Transportation Management, which manages the MetroAccess service, for more than five years.

Everyone who came into contact with the employee has been notified, officials said.

"He was known as a respected team member and well-liked by MetroAccess customers. The Capital Metro family mourns the passing of our friend and colleague and our thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this time," officials said in a written statement Wednesday.
