Kean University, College Steps partner on program for students with disabilities

Kean University will launch a program in fall 2020to help students with learning and social challenges attend the school.
Through a partnership with College Steps, students with learning disabilities, autism and executive functioning difficulties will receive comprehensive specialized support, including peer mentoring,group seminars and individualized learning plans.
The College Steps program places emphasis on self-advocacy, social competencies, employment and independent living skills to prepare students for meaningful careers and autonomy after college.
The program will be available to current Kean students on theUnion campus, as well as high school students seeking to receive transition-based support. College Steps at Kean University is designed for students ages 17 through 26 who would like to enroll in one or more courses at Kean.
Students will work with trained peer mentors from Kean'soccupational therapy program and will be supported by a full-time, on-site program coordinator.
Prospective students, families, school district personnel and advocates interested in learning more about the specific services offered, admissions process, associated costs and funding opportunities are invited to attend one of two information sessions scheduled for Feb. 4 on Kean's Union campus.IndividualizedmeetingsarealsoavailablebycontactingCollegeSteps at admissions@collegesteps.org.
The priority application deadline for fall 2020 enrollment with Kean University's College Steps program is April 1, 2020.
