Good News: Special Olympics athlete from Jacksonville participates in Capitol Hill Day

This week Robbie Culliton, a Special Olympics athlete from Jacksonville, attended Capitol Hill Day in Washington. This is the 18th year of the event and included about 250 delegates from across the country.

Robbie, along with other Special Olympics athletes, family members, sports partners and organization leaders, met to discuss issues of inclusion and necessary funding.

According to Special Olympics Florida, the program has helped Robbie to improve his sports abilities, communication and leadership skills. Robbie is employed by Winn-Dixie as a bagger and stocker.

Robbie's speaking opportunities, such as the participation in Capitol Hill Day and his past appearance here in Jacksonville at the Mayor's Disability Council, have been a result of mentorships through the Special Olympics. He has has won five gold medals and three silver medals.
