Rome Memorial Hospital to restrict more visitors to emergency department

Observer-Dispatch - 12/2/2020

Most visitors will be barred from the Rome Memorial Hospital emergency department starting at 7 a.m. Thursday because of the increase in COVID-19 cases in the area.

Only visitors deemed as medically necessary support will be allowed to accompany patients. These patients include:

Those with confusion, altered mental status, developmental delays or mobility issues.

Children younger than 18.

Patients in critical condition.

The extra precautions do not mean the hospital isn’t safe; anyone experiencing a medical emergency should not delay care over COVID-19 concerns, hospital officials stressed.

The hospital has protocols in place to protect patients from infection, they said.
