Dodge Center man pleads guilty to domestic assault charge

Post-Bulletin - 12/16/2019

Dec. 16--A Dodge Center man accused of assaulting a woman and taking her truck pleaded guilty last week to a felony domestic assault charge.

Dylan Rio Kaiser, 29, pleaded guilty Friday in Olmsted County District Court to domestic assault by strangulation. Two additional felony charges and two misdemeanor charges were dismissed, according to court records.

Kaiser was arrested on Aug. 20 after Olmsted County Sheriff's deputies were called to a home in Byron for a report of a domestic assault. A 25-year-old woman reported that Kaiser choked her and held her hostage, according to court documents. The woman had red marks on the front of her neck.

The woman told deputies the incident started around 4 a.m. when Kaiser asked her for her keys. Kaiser had been drinking the night before and was unable to get his car to start because of his vehicle's ignition interlock, according to court documents.

The woman eventually gave Kaiser her keys after being assaulted. Kaiser was located a short time later by troopers with the Minnesota State Patrol in Dodge County and was taken into custody.

Kaiser is scheduled to be sentenced by Judge Jacob Allen on Feb. 5.
