Richmond Register - 12/28/2019

Dec. 28--Richmond Police arrested Jose Cabrera III, 44, Iva Drive, Richmond, after officers were called to his residence in reference to a domestic violence incident.

Officers were called to the scene after a victim ran to the neighbors to call for help. Upon arrival, officers found Cabrera in the bathroom with a witness and police noted he was "extremely intoxicated," according to the citation.

The witness stated they were keeping Cabrera locked in the bathroom because he was agitated and yelling and the witness was attempting to keep him calm and kept away from the victims.

Cabrera states he punched one of the victims in the face after they came at him with a knife. He also said the second victim "may have gotten pushed in the process" as they were standing nearby, the citation adds.

Officers canvassed the home and found the bathroom door to be punched in and blood around the front door. One victim had dried blood and marks on their face and told officers the above punched them in the face and broke their phone in attempts to prevent them from leaving the house.

The second victim then went to the neighboring home and was found to have cuts and abrasions on their leg.
