Miami Dolphins’ Xavien Howard arrested late Sunday for domestic violence

Palm Beach Post - 12/30/2019

Miami Dolphins cornerback Xavien Howard was arrested late Sunday following a domestic violence incident involving his fiance.

Howard allegedly engaged in a verbal argument with the mother of his three children, grabbed her and pushed her against a mirrored glass wall.

According to a Davie Police arrest report, Howard was arrested at 10:53 p.m. The report indicates the dispute began over the purchase of a purse Howard made that was not disclosed to his fiance.

"The defendant grabbed both of her arms and pushed her back up against the mirrored glass wall in the hallway of the bedroom," the report read. "The defendant than let her go, causing her to fall on her right arm, landing on his medical assisted walking crutch, which was on the floor."

Howard recently had surgery on a knee. Howard played only five games this season due to the injury.

According to the report, the woman had scratches and redness on her right wrist/forearm and redness and an abrasion on her right elbow.

Before this season, Howard agreed to a new 5-year, $75.25 million contract. The Dolphins identified Howard as a franchise building block for a dramatic rebuild.

Howard, 26, had seven interceptions for Miami in 2018, reaching the Pro Bowl. Howard will be subject to discipline, including suspension, under the NFL's conduct policy.

In a statement, the Dolphins said: "We are aware of the situation and currently gathering information. We will have no further comment at this time."
