Central Pa. man accused of rape and sexual assault of pre-teen: DA

Patriot-News - 1/15/2020

A Chester County man was arrested Thursday, accused of sexually abusing a Lancaster County pre-teen over the course of three months in 2018, according to the Lancaster District Attorney’s Office.

Lee Chetty Jr., 34, of Coatesville, is charged with rape of a child, statutory sexual assault, unlawful contact with a minor, corruption of minors, indecent assault of a person younger than 13 and indecent exposure, according to online court dockets.

The district attorney’s office reported that the abuse occurred with a pre-teen between October and December 2018.

A woman found text messages between her child and Chetty last year and went to Millersville Borough police, who opened an investigation, the district attorney’s office said.

Police learned through an interview with the child that the sexual abuse happened multiple times in late 2018. Chetty is an acquaintance to the family.

Chetty was charged Tuesday and bail was set at $200,000, according to online court dockets.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 27.
