Registered sex offender in Utica charged with sexual contact with child

A Utica man was arrested for having sexual contact with a 14-year-old female, the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center announced in a statement.
According to sheriff investigators, Maurice M. Jones, a 57-year-old level 3 registered sex offender, had the child alone in a car on Friday, Feb. 14, where he subjected the child to sexual contact.
Jones, who is out on parole, was arrested without incident and charged with third-degree sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a minor.
Authorities said Jones was taken to the Utica Police Department to await arraignment.
An order of protection was requested on the child's behalf, authorities said.
