St. Cloud man accused of strangling woman

St. Cloud Times - 7/7/2020

Jul. 7--ST. CLOUD -- A 26-year-old St. Cloud man is accused of strangling a woman during an argument in June, according to a criminal complaint filed June 29 in Stearns County District Court.

DeJuan Terrell Davis was charged with one felony count of domestic assault by strangulation, two misdemeanor counts of domestic assault and one misdemeanor count of fifth-degree assault.

According to the complaint, officers were sent to a St. Cloud residence June 29 after a domestic assault report. Officers had been at the same residence a few hours earlier for a verbal dispute between two people.

A woman told police Davis came back to the residence after officers left following the earlier call and "went toward (another woman) as if he was going to assault her" so the woman pushed Davis away.

The woman said Davis then picked her up by her waist, carried her into another room and slammed her down and "began choking her around her throat," the complaint states.

A second woman at the residence said Davis approached her with a raised fist "like he was going to punch (her) in the face," the complaint states. She also heard the other woman yell that Davis was choking her.

Davis called emergency dispatch to ask "if he was in trouble" and then hung up, the complaint states. Officers were unable to locate Davis in the area of that call, so a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Davis turned himself in and was arrested Tuesday morning. His first court appearance was scheduled for Tuesday morning.
