Lockport man accused of raping teenage girl

Nov. 5--A Lockport man was arrested Tuesday after being accused of sexually assaulting a teenage girl at a party, authorities said.

Derine Harris, 24, is charged with third-degree rape, the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office said.

Detectives investigated a report that a teenage girl had attended a party Oct. 29 at a home on North Willow Street in Lockport, where she drank alcohol. While the girl was impaired, the suspect sexually abused her, authorities said.

Harris admitted during questioning that he knew the victim's age and that she was impaired during the incident, the Sheriff's Office said.

He was taken into custody and was transported to the Lafourche Parish jail, where he remains on a $50,000 bond.
