Algonquin woman who fled to Colorado faces charges in double homicide believed to be domestic violence

Chicago Tribune - 11/9/2020

An Algonquin woman has been charged with first-degree murder in the killing of two people who were found dead in a home in the northwest suburb Sunday evening, police said.

Arin Fox, 39, is accused of killing a 73-year-old man and a 69-year-old woman in the 600 block of Red Coach Lane in Algonquin, then fleeing to Colorado, according to a release from the Algonquin Police Department.

The McHenry County coroner’s office has identified the victims as Leonard Gilard, Jr., 73, and Noreen Gilard, 69, according to the police news release. The coroner’s office did not respond to a request for comment Monday morning.

Both were residents of Algonquin, according to police. Public records indicate they lived at the home where they were found dead.

The Gilards were found when police responded to a check for well-being call about 6:40 p.m. Sunday. Police have not yet disclosed how the two died but said they were found with “apparent fatal wounds.”

Police said the incident is believed to be a case of domestic violence.

After the killings, Fox fled to Colorado and is being detained at the Douglas County jail in Castle Rock, Colorado, awaiting extradition. Authorities did not release information on her home address, other than to say she was from Algonquin.

Fox has also been charged with two counts of possession of a stolen motor vehicle, one count of aggravated battery and one count of domestic battery.
