St. Cloud man accused of assaulting woman, threatening to kill her

St. Cloud Times - 11/25/2020

Nov. 25--ST. CLOUD -- A 32-year-old St. Cloud man is accused of assaulting a woman until she lost consciousness, according to a criminal complaint filed Tuesday in Stearns County District Court.

Abdirahman Hassan Aden was charged with one felony count of threats of violence, one felony count of domestic assault by strangulation and two misdemeanor counts of domestic assault.

According to the complaint, law enforcement responded to a domestic assault complaint in St. Cloud just before 4 p.m. Sunday.

Upon their arrival, a woman collapsed on the ground and was in and out of consciousness, with bruising on her cheek, neck and arms.

After being cleared by medical staff, the woman told police Aden hit her face with a closed fist, grabbed her by the neck, which made it hard to breathe, and told her he was going to kill her.

The woman said her children witnessed the assault and were crying when Aden said he was going to kill her.

In a Mirandized statement, Aden told officials an argument escalated when the woman pushed him to the ground and bit him; he said the woman got her bruises from falling to the ground after she pushed him.

Aden did not have any visible injuries, the complaint states.

At Aden's first court appearance Tuesday, a judge ruled he could be released on an unconditional $60,000 bail or a $30,000 bail with conditions he abide by a no-contact order.

His next court date is scheduled for Dec. 7.
