Man accused of sexually abusing girl

News-Topic - 2/14/2021

Feb. 11—A man accused of sexually abusing a young girl also tried to lure a teenager into his van to "cuddle," according to search warrant documents filed at the Caldwell County Courthouse.

Bryan Keith Jackson Jr., 35, of Connelly Springs Road in Granite Falls came under investigation Jan. 17 after a woman reported to the Caldwell County Sheriff's Office that she had discovered sexual messages on the mobile phone of a teenage girl she knows, according to the affidavits filed by Detective Roger Crosby.

When the teenager was interviewed at the Robin's Nest Child Advocacy Center, she disclosed that she had several sexual conversations with Jackson.

"She also disclosed that Bryan had requested through social media that she sneak out of her house and get into his red van for some 'cuddle time,' " Crosby wrote. "However, she was too scared to sneak out of her home."

When investigators searched the girl's phone on Jan. 22, they found several sexual texts that had been exchanged between Jackson and the teen.

Jackson has not been charged in any incidents with the teenager, but on Feb. 4 a young girl interviewed at Robin's Nest told interviewers that Jackson had sexually abused her.

He was charged with indecent liberties with a child and statutory sex offense with a child by an adult.

Jackson was already on the North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry, although it appears that it was not the result of a conviction on a sex crime. He was convicted in Catawba County of second-degree kidnapping of a minor in 2007.

Last July 21, Jackson was also convicted of failing to register his address for the sex offender registry, and he was sentenced to two years of probation.

Because he was on probation at the time he was accused of molesting a young girl, he has also been charged with a probation violation.

His bond was set at $275,000 secured.
