Charges announced for high school assistant band director arrested for child pornography

Patriot-News - 6/14/2021

Attorney General Josh Shapiro has announced charges against an assistant marching band director who authorities claim was in possession of child pornography.

Stephen Gugoff, an assistant band director who worked at Central Dauphin High School, was arrested on June 13 after a search of his home found at least 50 files containing images of child sexual abuse, according to the attorney general.

Gugoff has been charged with 25 counts of distributing child pornography, and an additional 50 counts of possessing child pornography. The school district has fired Gugoff from his position at Central Dauphin, adding that he had passed all background clearances necessary to work at the district in 2020.

“The defendant was trusted by his students and community while he also privately exploited children. Today’s arrest is another step towards a safer Commonwealth,” said Attorney General Shapiro in a press release. “We will continue to work to protect children and hold those who hurt them accountable.”
