Kent Police arrest Auburn man for killing female companion

Kent Police arrested a 36-year-old Auburn man for investigation of second-degree murder and second-degree assault for allegedly killing a 33-year-old woman companion during a domestic violence incident.

Officers responded at about 11:45 p.m. on Monday, June 14 to a hotel in the 22300 block of 84th Avenue South to reports of a domestic violence assault in progress, according to police. The call was updated to CPR in progress.

Puget Sound Fire personnel found the woman unconscious. The Auburn man was conducting CPR. Puget Sound Fire took over life-saving efforts, but they were not able to revive the woman.

Police officers determined through investigation that the woman may have been the victim of domestic violence and detained her male companion. Detectives responded to the scene and following several hours of investigation determined that the woman's death was a homicide. The man was arrested and booked into jail.

The King County Medical Examiner's Office has not yet released the woman's identity or cause of death.

8th homicide in 2021

The killing is the eighth homicide in the first six months of 2021 in Kent, already matching the total for all of 2020. The city had had four homicides in 2019 and seven in 2018.
