Healing House brings awareness to domestic violence through candlelight vigil

Deming Headlight - 10/14/2021

DEMING - With October being a nationally declared Domestic Violence (DV) Awareness Month, the Luna County Healing House plans to hold a candlelight vigil and balloon release ceremony at the Luna County Courthouse Park to acknowledge both survivors of domestic violence and those who have lost their lives.

The Healing House is Luna County's shelter for survivors of domestic violence. Staff and volunteers are the voice for these victims and will host this event in recognition of their strength, resiliency, and courage. Staff and volunteers remind them, "YOU ARE NOT ALONE."

The public is invited to come together as a community to spread awareness and support. Staff will be asking everyone to sign a pledge acknowledging one thing they can do to help end domestic violence. This event will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 20, 2021.
