Granite City facing fifth domestic battery charge

Jul. 31—EDWARDSVILLE — A Granite City man was charged with his fifth domestic battery after a July 28 incident; one of several domestic battery felony cases filed Friday by the Madison County State's Attorney's Office.

Domanick G. Tripp, 43, of Granite City, was charged July 29 with domestic battery (fifth subsequent offense), a Class 2 felony; and resisting a peace officer, a Class A misdemeanor.

The case was presented by the Granite City Police Department.

According to court documents, on July 28 Tripp allegedly struck a household or family member in the back with a padlock and ran from Granite City police officers attempting to place him under arrest.

It was noted Tripp has four prior convictions for domestic battery out of Madison County in 2003, 2009 and March 7, 2022.

Bail was set at $75,000.

In an unrelated case, Shawn N. Christoff II, 21, of Granite City, was charged with aggravated domestic battery, a Class 2 felony; and resisting a peace officer, a Class A misdemeanor.

The case was presented by the Granite City Police Department.

According to court documents, on July 28 Christoff allegedly strangled a household or family member; and ran from a Granite City police officer attempting to place him under arrest.

Bail was set at $75,000.

Jason C. Spink, 46, of Alton, was charged with aggravated domestic battery, a Class 2 felony; and domestic battery (second subsequent offense), a Class 4 felony.

The case was presented by the Alton Police Department.

According to court documents, on July 27 Spink allegedly strangled a household or family member, and struck her in the face and held her down with his hands.

He has 2010 prior conviction for domestic battery out of Madison County in 2010.

Bail was set at $75,000.

Other felony charges filed July 29 include:

—LaDarryl A Buckels, 43, of Cahokia, was charged with unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, a Class 2 felony. The case was presented by the Collinsville Police Department. According to court documents, on July 28 Buckels allegedly had more than 500 grams of cannabis with intent to deliver. Bail was set at $50,000.

—Raymond E. Hatcher, 46, of East Alton, was charged with unlawful possession of methamphetamine, a Class 3 felony. The case was presented by the Bethalto Police Department. On July 29 Hatcher allegedly had less than five grams of methamphetamine. Bail was set at $15,000.

—Chelsea S. Hudson, 31, of Granite City, was charged with theft over $500, a Class 3 felony. The case was presented by the Granite City Police Department. On July 2 Hudson allegedly took more than $500 in cash from Ruler Foods. Bail was set at $15,000.
