La Crosse Tribune - 4/24/2024

Apr. 24—A 29-year-old Holmen man faces multiple criminal charges after prosecutors say he sexually assaulted and physically abused a woman over a three-day period.

Lue Vang was charged in La Crosse County Circuit Court with three felony counts of second-degree sexual assault, one felony count of attempted second-degree sexual assault, one felony count of false imprisonment, one misdemeanor count of battery and one misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct.

According to the criminal complaint, police responded April 6 to a Main Street address in Onalaska, where a woman told police that Vang had beaten and sexually assaulted her multiple times.

She said the first assault occurred April 4, when an enraged Vang accused her of cheating. She said Vang punched her several times in the face and forced her into sexual intercourse. She said Vang confiscated her cell phone during the assault.

The woman said a second assault occurred during the overnight hours of April 5, when he awoke and sexually assaulted her.

Later in the evening, the woman said Vang attempted to sexually assault her but was pulled away by others inside the residence. Then, during the overnight hours of April 6, the woman said Vang dragged her into another room and assaulted her over a two-hour period.

The complaint says police observed bruising and swelling on the woman's right eye and both sides of her neck.

Vang was released from the La Crosse County JailApril 9 after posting a $10,000 cash bond, which was later reduced to $5,000. Conditions of the bond include an exclusion zone surrounding the woman's residence and GPS monitoring.

Vang's next court appearance is a May 29 calendar call.
