Rocquin sentenced to 16 and half years for child porn, molestation

Daily World, The (Aberdeen, WA) - 3/22/2015

March 21--Former substitute teacher Ryan Rocquin was sentenced to 16 1/2 years to life in prison for sexually molesting a minor and being in possession of images depicting children engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

Rocquin, 33, pled guilty to child molestation in the first degree, sexual exploitation of a minor and possession of depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct in the first and second degree.

Court documents state that Rocquin inappropriately touched a 5-year-old girl and also took pictures of the child while she was in sexually explicit poses.

A search warrant executed on devices belong to Rocquin, found approximately 400 images that depict both male and female children engaged in sexual activity and/or suggestive poses. Officers also found one image they believe to be of the victim.

The investigation into Rocquin began after the 5-year-old told her mother about inapropriate acts with Rocquin.

The victim's mother made a statement saying the girl has had trouble sleeping in her bed and has had nightmares since the assault occurred. The mother also said she lost a job over not getting enough sleep and keeping her daughter at home because she was afraid to let her go to daycare by herself.

"I fear for her self-esteem and ability to develop relationships," the girl's mother said, referring to trauma the 5-year-old might suffer due to the assault.

"This is just horrible on so many levels," said Pro-Tem judge David Foscue. "We're fortunate that a 5-year-old found out what (Rocquin) was doing was absolutely wrong."
