Olympian - 7/23/2020
Jul. 23--Thurston Strong, a community effort to help small businesses and other organizations cope with the slow COVID-19 economy, is offering grants for small businesses and child care providers.
"We hope these small cash infusions will help small businesses gain traction as they take on the task of starting over or finding ways to operate in a new environment," Thurston Strong leaders said in a statement.
The "micro-business standup" grant amounts were not disclosed in the Thurston Strong announcement, but theOlympia Downtown Alliance told its members they range in size up to $1,500.
Priority will be given to businesses with 25 or fewer employees. Businesses must have a physical location in Thurston County and a registered Unified Business Identification number.
The Thurston Economic Development Council will administer the program. Funding has been provided by Thurston County and the cities of Lacey, Olympia and Tumwater, through the CARES Act.
