Broward eases COVID-19 rules for pools, sports and child care centers

Broward County on Friday eased its COVID-19 restrictions for child care facilities, community pools and people who play sports at parks and beaches.

The county allowed weddings to resume at banquet halls, starting Friday, Oct. 2. But the county’s emergency order also many many other changes:

Child care centers: The county removed a requirement that children must be separated into groups of no more than 10 at child care facilities.

Community pools: The county removed requirements that homeowner associations remove pool chairs at their community pools.

Restaurants: The county has allowed live entertainment at restaurants. People can now play billiards in restaurants that offer them.

Restaurant bars: The county allowed restaurant bars to open, although no alcohol can be served.

Sports: Up to 10 people now are allowed to play non-organized sports at parks and beaches. Also, people who are “actively engaged in organized sports” don’t have to wear masks.
