Need a cute dog in your life? These 5 from KC Pet Project are looking for new families

Kansas City Star - 6/22/2022

KC Pet Project has a wide selection of pets available for adoption that need loving homes—from dogs and cats to guinea pigs.

Tori Fugate, the chief communications officer with KCPP, said their shelter is overflowing with medium and large dogs especially.

These are a few of the pups waiting for a new family to bring them home.

Craig

A 5-and-a-half-year-old terrier and pitbull mix, you can find Craig at the Kansas City Campus for Animal Care. He’s an energetic and clever one, so you’ll never have a dull day.

A perfect day for him would be to solve a couple of puzzles, hike on a long, challenging trail and then get some much-needed rest and relaxation in the shade.

He’s been with KCPP since Dec. 30, 2021 and is a large boy, weighing 70 pounds.

Florence Pugh

The shelter named her after the “Midsommar” actress because they know a superstar when they see one. Like Craig, Florence is a 3-and-a-half-year-old terrier and pitbull mix and is located at the Kansas City Campus for Animal Care. She is energetic, treat-motivated and cute.

She arrived to KCPP on Dec. 20, 2021 and weighs 40 pounds.

Khalid

This 4-year-old Boxer is very friendly and playful. He loves toys and getting some good exercise in by chasing a ball or two. He’s a big boy, weighing in at 65 pounds, but he can move with elegance.

He’s located at the Kansas City Campus for Animal Care and has been under KCPP’s care since May 18.

Liam

Another terrier and pitbull mix, this 4-year-old weighs in at 74 pounds and is a smart cookie. He loves to cuddle and is obsessed with toys. Give him a chew toy or bone, and he’ll be your best friend.

Liam’s located at the Kansas City Campus for Animal Care and has been there since April 5.

Vinny

This handsome, curious and clever terrier and pitbull mix is one of KCPP’s longest-term dogs, having been with the shelter since Oct. 29, 2021. He’s 3-and-a-half years old and makes a great sidekick because he’s down for any adventure.

You can adopt all 62 pounds of Vinny at the Kansas City Campus for Animal Care.

HOW CAN I ADOPT A PET?

You’ll have to go to the shelter the pet is located at. You won’t need to schedule an appointment. You can just walk in and you’ll be paired with a staff member to help you look at pets.

After you’ve selected a pet, you’ll go through an adoption interview with staff and fill out paperwork. If everything goes well, you’ll be going home with a new family member that day.

Adoption fees vary between the pet you’re going home with:

Adult mixed breed dogs: $75-150

Small breed dogs and puppies: $150-300

Cats: $25-75

Kittens: $50-125
