Daily Camera - 4/7/2023
Apr. 7—Boulder has released a report detailing how the city has distributed $455,000 in grant funding from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) to local small businesses and child care companies.
According to a news release, the city launched its ARPA Small Business Grant and ARPA Child Care Business Grant in June 2022 to mitigate lasting impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and promote inclusive economic recovery.
In July 2022, Boulder awarded a total of $400,000 to 224 local small businesses. More than half of the grants (53%) went to restaurants or retail businesses, while 57% of the grants went to businesses owned by women or people of color.
And in August 2022, the city distributed $55,000 to 11 local child care companies, over one-third of which were women-owned.
"The grants were designed to help facilitate economic recovery for local businesses, especially those most impacted by COVID-19," Economic Vitality Manager Jennifer Pinsonneault stated in the release. "We are pleased that we were able to help so many local businesses."
