Hope Coalition launches mental health videos with Henderson County Youth Council

Feb. 16—The Henderson County Youth Council has produced multiple educational videos for middle school-age students in Henderson County on topics common to teens.

The series is titled "YOUth are not alone, a teen hope initiative." All videos are student-written, directed, and edited and provide information and tips on subjects including depression, anxiety and stress, boredom, agitation and irritation, anger and fear, and respect.

The videos will be distributed to other schools beginning in 2021, and the Youth Council is preparing even more in order to educate and support students in Henderson County.

Hope Coalition is a grassroots effort initiated by the Henderson County Partnershipfor Health in 2013 as a community collaborative to educate, evaluate and implement evidence-based models on substance misuse and underage drinking in Henderson County by building capacity and creating long-term and sustainable plans that are action-oriented and focus on community level change.

The Henderson County Youth Council is a student-run organization overseen by Hope Coalition and supported by the United Way of Henderson County that aims to assist students throughout the area.

The council consists of students from all area high schools who meet monthly to plan service projects and ways to support peers. Previous projects for the Council include school supply drives, food drives, and United Way Day of Action events.
