Citing a mental health breaking point, Shawn Mendes postpones Xcel Energy Center stop 24 hours before showtime

Saint Paul Pioneer Press - 7/8/2022

Pop star Shawn Mendes announced he’s postponing the next three weeks of his tour, which includes a Saturday night show at St. Paul’s Xcel Energy Center.

In a message posted to his social media about 24 hours before he was set to take the stage at the X, the 23-year-old Ontario native wrote: “After a few years off the road, I felt like I was ready to dive back in, but that decision was premature and unfortunately the toll of the road and the pressure has caught up to me and I’ve hit a breaking point.

“After speaking with my team and health professionals, I need to take some time to heal and take care of myself and my mental health, first and foremost.”

Mendes kicked off his tour June 27 in Portland, Ore. It was scheduled to include 87 arena shows in North America and Europe, with more dates to be added.

Mendes didn’t offer any further details about tickets or new dates, but wrote “as soon as there are more updates I promise I will let you know.”
