North Okanagan youth benefit from mental health cycling fundraiser

Vernon Morning Star - 5/28/2024

It's a popular event that supports youth mental health services in the North Okanagan.

And there's still time to sign up if you haven't already done so.

Ride Don't Hide will be hosted by Canadian Mental Health Association Vernon and District branch, Sunday, June 9, at Polson Park.

Registration opens at 8 a.m., with the event starting at 9 a.m.

"We have been overwhelmed by the response so far to Ride Don't Hide and the number of participants is increasing steadily," said Julia Payson, CMHA Vernon and District executive director.

"Ride Don't Hide is a tremendous opportunity to support vital mental health services for youth and families here in the North Okanagan. We hope to see you there."

Cyclists and non-cyclists can take part in the event which features six routes ranging from 1.2 to 50 kilometres. You can ride or walk as an individual or as part of a team.

"We have routes close to Polson Park that are ideal for young families while experienced cyclists can navigate routes along scenic farms and orchards in Coldstream," said Payson.

Ride Don't Hide will also include booths promoting local organizations, kids' activities and a barbecue for participants. You can register at ridedonthide.com/vernon.
