Using eggs in your Christmas cooking? This egg recall may stand in your way

Miami Herald - 12/25/2019

Dec. 25--Planning on eating pre-packaged salads or egg-based products this Christmas feast? Hold your horses because it may have been recalled.

Fresh hard-boiled eggs sold peeled and in plastic pails from Almark Foods, a Gainesville, Georgia, company, have been recalled. This is due to possible contamination by listeria in their preparation facility.

Two major food suppliers have already recalled some of their products.

The Fresh Market has recalled products from its deli and refrigerated dairy sections.

From the deli department:

-- Cobb Salad

-- Spinach Bacon Poppyseed Salad & Party-Size Salad

-- Grilled Salmon Bistro Power Plate

-- Eggs, Fruit and Nut Snack Pack

-- In select stores, eggs from the salad bar

From the refrigerated dairy case:

-- Eggland's Best Cage Free Hard Cooked Peeled Eggs

-- Peckish Eggs and Everything Dip

-- Peckish Eggs and Fried Rice Dip

-- Peckish Eggs and Rancheros Dip

-- Vital Farms Pasture Raised Eggs, Hard Boiled

As of Tuesday, no illnesses had been reported and all the recalled items had been removed from stores. If you bought any of the products above, throw them out and bring your receipt to any Fresh Market store for a full refund.

Trader Joe's has also recalled specific foods tied to Almark Foods.

The grocery store is recalling Trader Joe's Egg White Salad with Chives and Trader Joe's Old Fashioned Potato Salad.

As with The Fresh Market, no illnesses have been reported and the products have been taken off shelves. Throw it out if you have it and bring your receipt to a Trader Joe's for a full refund.
