2 new COVID-19 cases in Herkimer County

Herkimer County Public Health officials have recorded two new positive COVID-19 cases in the county.

Monday's report brings the total to 208 since March 13. There are 36 active cases with three people hospitalized as of Monday afternoon, while 168 have recovered.

The number of negative tests countywide rose to 14,665 as of Monday afternoon.

There are 73 people under mandatory quarantine with public health orders, with nine released over the past 24 hours. Forty individuals are under precautionary quarantine; no one was released since the last update.

The numbers are being updated daily on Herkimer County's Facebook page.

Herkimer County's first confirmed case of COVID-19 was announced March 12, with the second announced March 19. The county's third confirmed case was reported March 20 and was followed by four confirmed cases announced March 22.

Weekly totals announced Fridays since then were as follows: March 27, 9 confirmed cases; April 3, 22; April 10, 45; April 17, 59; and April 24, 73; May 1, 82; May 8, 93; May 15, 106; May 22, 115; May 29, 127; and June 5, 137; June 12, 140; June 19, 147; June 27, 162; July 3, 184; and July 10, 202 confirmed cases.
