Three new COVID-19 cases identified in PMH region

The Brandon Sun - 7/21/2020

On Monday, public health officials reported 11 new coronavirus cases in the province, including three in the Prairie Mountain Health region.

This means that Manitoba's total number of lab-confirmed positive and probable positive cases is up to 354, while PMH's total increased to 29.

This marks the first time that the province identified new COVID-19 cases in PMH since May 11.

During Monday’s news conference, chief public health officer Dr. Brent Roussin could not reveal where these three new PMH cases originated from.

However, Roussin said that, as far as he knew, these new cases did not come from PMH Hutterite colonies, saying that those recent clusters are relegated to three different colonies located within the Southern and Interlake-Eastern Health regions.

Roussin also mentioned on Monday that one affected individual is currently in intensive care, which is the first time a Manitoban has been hospitalized because of COVID-19 since early June.

Otherwise, there are now 29 active coronavirus cases in the province.
