DE Calais Campbell among three Ravens added to reserve/COVID-19 list, will miss game vs. Steelers

Hours after the NFL announced it was postponing the Ravens’ Thanksgiving Day game against the Pittsburgh Steelers amid a coronavirus outbreak, three more team members were added to the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Defensive end Calais Campbell and offensive linemen Patrick Mekari and Matt Skura will now miss the Ravens’ rescheduled game Sunday in Pittsburgh. The team has added seven players this week to the reserve/COVID-19, which indicates a player has tested positive or is considered a “high-risk” close contact with an infected person.

Coach John Harbaugh announced Monday that running backs Mark Ingram and J.K. Dobbins had tested positive for COVID-19. Defensive tackle Brandon Williams is on the list as a close contact. Also sidelined are outside linebacker Pernell McPhee, quarterback Trace McSorley and injured cornerback Iman Marshall, who tested positive.

Campbell’s status for Thursday’s game was in doubt, as he was recovering from a calf injury that sidelined him for Sunday’s loss to the Tennessee Titans. The Ravens will have to rely once more on veteran starter Derek Wolfe and rookies Justin Madubuike and Broderick Washington. Defensive end Jihad Ward will also likely play for the first time since Week 6. Practice squad call-ups could help the team’s depth.

Along the offensive line, Mekari has started the past three games for the Ravens, and he replaced Skura as the team’s starting center Sunday after starting two games at right guard. Tyre Phillips, the team’s Week 1 starter at right guard, was designated to return from injured reserve this week, but he’s had to rehabilitate and prepare virtually amid the outbreak. Skura played as a situational lineman Sunday and had not missed an offensive snap over the Ravens’ first nine games.

With both out, the Ravens could turn to Trystan Colon-Castillo, an undrafted rookie from Missouri who hasn’t played this season, or even starting left guard Bradley Bozeman, who played center at Alabama.
