Ontario County Public Health: One COVID-19 death reported Wednesday

HOPEWELL — One person died of COVID-19 and 40 new cases were reported Wednesday, according to Ontario County Public Health.

The Ontario County community member was between the ages of 70 and 79 had a history of medical issues, health staff said. That brings the total number of COVID-19 deaths to 98.

With the 40 news cases Feb. 3, 5,230 Ontario County residents have been diagnosed with COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic.

Many of the new cases are related household contacts, college students and community cases.

There are 370 COVID-19 positive individuals who are being isolated. This is in addition to 478 mandatory quarantines (contacts of positive cases), totaling 850 in the isolation and quarantine category.

There were 85 negative tests and 29 patients are in the hospital.

With 24 new recoveries today, 4,766 recoveries have been reported since the start of the pandemic.
