Boulder County has one new coronavirus outbreak, state data shows

Daily Times-Call - 2/5/2021

Feb. 5—Colorado's weekly outbreak report showed there was one new outbreak determined last week in Boulder County, where officials Thursday reported 59 new cases, but no new deaths.

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment's updated weekly report showed there was a new outbreak at TRU PACE Community Care, which provides palliative, hospice and support services to people so that they can live independently.

According to the state's report TRU PACE Community Care, 2594 Trailridge Drive East, Lafayette, had an outbreak determined on Tuesday. There were five staff member cases reported, the data showed.

Jen Thomas, TRU PACE director of development and communications, said that the care center is working with a county epidemiologist and following all Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines for personal protective equipment, quarantining, and isolation protocols.

"We partner with the county and the state to do routine testing of all our front line staff, so anyone who is (working with a patient) gets tested at least once a week, sometimes twice a week," Thomas said. "Through that regular testing, over the past few weeks, we've identified five different positive cases."

Since March, Thomas said that the PACE Day Center program has not been in operation. Instead, she said TRU has integrated tele-care video conferencing in an effort to optimize patient safety and reduce exposure risk.

Boulder County has 39 active outbreaks, according to the state.
