Michigan reports 301 new COVID-19 cases, 40 deaths on Thursday

On Thursday, the Michigan health department confirmed 301 new coronavirus cases, bringing the state to 891,615 total cases since the start of the pandemic.
A total of 40 COVID-19 deaths were also reported, increasing Michigan's death toll to 19,479.
Of the 40 deaths reported, 28 were identified during a vital records review, which the department conducts three times a week.

Of 21,454 diagnostic tests reported Wednesday, 373 yielded positive results — a positivity rate of 1.74%.
Included in Friday's report were 104,812 probable cases and 1,233 probable deaths, for a total of 996,427 cases and 20,712 deaths.
