COVID-19: Weld County case, testing and outbreak data for the week of Oct. 13

Oct. 14—Weld County's cumulative COVID-19 case count added 1,384 new cases in the past week, for a total of 44,295 cases since the pandemic began.

The county's one-week average positive test rate is 10.37%, slightly up from 10.11% a week ago. In the Greeley area, that rate is 9.02%, the lowest in the county. Southeast Weld now has the highest rate in the county, at 12.41%. North Weld's rate, the highest last week, dropped to 10.06%.

There are 190 COVID-19 patients at Weld regional hospitals, up from 174 a week ago. Thirty-eight of those patients are in county hospitals. There are 66 hospital beds and 12 ICU beds available in the region, which encompasses 12 hospitals. There are no hospital beds and no ICU beds available in the county.

About 17.7% of patients in Weld regional hospitals are COVID-19 patients. Within the county, that rate is 24.7%.

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment reported 26 active outbreaks this week in Weld County:

1. Windsong at Northridge: One resident case and two staff cases. Outbreak reported Oct. 11.

2. Coal Ridge Middle School: 19 student cases. Outbreak reported Oct. 8.

3. Valley High School: Eight student cases and one staff case. Outbreak reported Oct. 8.

4. The Children's Courtyard of Frederick: Three attendee cases and two staff cases. Outbreak reported Oct. 8.

5. Weld County Justice Services — Alternative Programs: Two resident cases. Outbreak reported Oct. 7.

6. Ashley ManorEvans 2: Three resident cases. Outbreak reported Oct. 5.

7. Firestone Charter Academy: 27 student cases and three staff cases. Outbreak reported Sept. 30.

8. Broadview Health and Rehabilitation Center LLC: Four resident cases. One resident death. Outbreak reported Sept. 22.

9. Frontier Academy Secondary School: 22 student cases and two staff cases. Outbreak reported Sept. 21.

10. Centennial Health Care Center: One resident case and four staff cases. Outbreak reported Sept. 21.

11. Garden Square at Westlake: Two resident cases. Outbreak reported Sept. 21.

12. The Aladdin at Keenesburg: Two resident cases and one staff case. Outbreak reported Sept. 20.

13. University Schools: 79 student cases and eight staff cases. Outbreak reported Sept. 17.

14. Frederick High School: 36 student cases and two staff cases. Outbreak reported Sept. 17.

15. University of Northern Colorado Football Team: Six student cases and seven staff cases. Outbreak reported Sept. 17.

16. Northridge High School: 40 student cases and five staff cases. Outbreak reported Sept. 10.

17. Grandview Elementary School: 31 student cases and three staff cases. Outbreak reported Sept. 2.

18. Jefferson High School: Seven student cases and three staff cases. Outbreak reported Sept. 2.

19. Life Care Center of Greeley: 19 resident cases and 20 staff cases. Outbreak reported Aug. 31.

20. JBS Corporate: 38 staff cases. Outbreak reported Aug. 5.

21. Greeley West High School: 28 student cases and two staff cases. Outbreak reported Sept. 21. No new cases since the week of Sept. 29.

22. Ashley ManorEvans 1: Six resident cases and seven staff cases. Outbreak reported Aug. 31. No new cases since the week of Sept. 29.

23. Aspen Ridge Preparatory School: 13 student cases and three staff cases. Outbreak reported Sept. 17. No new cases since the week of Sept. 22.

24. Norfolk Iron and Metal: Five staff cases. Outbreak reported Sept. 2. No new cases since the week of Sept. 22.

25. The Lodge at Greeley: Two staff cases. Outbreak reported Sept. 21. No new cases since the week of Sept. 22.

26. Greeley Place Independent Living: Nine resident cases and one staff case. Outbreak reported Aug. 17. No new cases since the week of Aug. 18.

Greeley-Evans School District 6 reported 51 students and two adults in quarantine as of Thursday.

There have been 387 Weld residents who died due to COVID-19, an increase of nine in the past week, according to county data. The state reported 422 deaths among people with the virus in Weld, an increase of 13 since last week. The state also reported 11 new deaths due to COVID-19 in Weld, for a total of 347.

The state reports Weld County has identified 1,139 cases of the delta variant.

The state positivity rate is 9.14%, up from 6.86% a week ago, according to the state. John Hopkins University reports the national positivity rate is 5.9%, down from 6.2% a week ago.

Weld County reported Oct. 8 that 15,042 residents have had their first doses of two-part COVID-19 vaccines, and 159,743 residents, 59.2% of the 12-and-up population, are fully vaccinated. Booster vaccines have been administered to 6,998 people in the county.

The state reports 3,822,651 people in the state have been immunized with one dose, and 3,513,189 people, 71.32% of the state's eligible population, have been fully immunized. A total of 241,248 people have received additional doses.
