What to know before you go: Traveling safely during a pandemic

South Florida Sun Sentinel - 10/22/2021

Experts predict the last few months of 2021 will be a busy travel time but going places safely will require staying current with the ever-changing list of safety regulations, understanding the health risks and preparing differently than in the past

Areas around the country and the world are in different stages of the coronavirus pandemic and travel guidelines could vary, as can the need for wearing masks and social distancing.

“As long as we apply our everyday precautions to our travels, the risks can be minimized significantly,” said Dr. Aarti Raja, associate professor of health sciences at Nova Southeastern University.

Before you travel

What to bring

Some of the items you should have in your travel bag are spare masks, hand sanitizer, antibacterial wipes, disinfectant, COVID test kits and proof of vaccination. The hand sanitizer should have at least 60% alcohol content.

A resealable plastic bag is good to bring, too, so you can store your mask and keep it clean while you eat.
