Boston Herald - 7/30/2022
President Biden announced that he has once again tested positive for COVID-19, the second time this month.
“Folks, today I tested positive for COVID again,” Biden tweeted Saturday afternoon. “This happens with a small minority of folks. I’ve got no symptoms but I am going to isolate for the safety of everyone around me. I’m still at work, and I will be back on the road soon.”
Biden last announced he had contracted COVID on July 21, and emerged from isolation on Wednesday.
The latest data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention show a total of 90,895,306 cases in the country since it began tracking data, with 1,024,611 attributed to the virus. The agency reports that current cases — the 7-day national average as of Wednesday was 126,272 — is “driven by the BA.5 lineage of the Omicron variant.”
In Massachusetts, there were 9,954 new, confirmed cases in the week ending Wednesday, which is the latest update.
