Dave Dawson: Portion of Jacksonville under boil-water advisory

Jacksonville Journal-Courier - 6/7/2024

Jun. 6—A portion of Jacksonville is under a boil-water order.

Jacksonville Municipal Utilities said the precautionary measure affects a one-block section of Plum Street from the end of Plum Street to Sycamore Street.

It was issued Thursday morning and will remain in place until further notice, according to the city.

Bottled water should be used for consumption, such as drinking or for food preparation, and tap water should be brought to a full rolling boil for one minute and allowed to cool before use.

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, tap water should not be used for brushing teeth and caution should be taken to avoid swallowing water while bathing or showering.
