Award-winning White House chef visits Harrisburg Salvation Army for grand opening

Patriot-News - 8/6/2020

The Salvation Army in Harrisburg hosted award-winning White House chef Andre Rush on Thursday, Aug. 6.

Rush was the special guest speaker at the new location’s open house and grand opening celebration. On Thursday, he offered some heath tips for good eating and nutrition.

“As a youth myself, I didn’t have a lot of opportunities,” Rush said. “So when I built my own platform, I said I’m going to give back 100%. So that’s what I’m doing. It’s important for [the kids] to start now.”

Rush is a retired Master Sergeant, combat veteran and was a freelance chef on the White House staff in 1997.

The new Salvation Army is located at 509 South 29th St. in Harrisburg.
