Panama City veteran's Hurricane Michael-damaged home fixed with $25,000 AT&T grant

News Herald - 10/28/2020

Oct. 28--PANAMA CITY -- Air Force veteran Chris Snyder and his family will be able to return to their home soon with the help of the nonprofit SBP, which received a $25,000 donation from the AT&T Foundation.

SBP, formerly called St. Bernard Project, was founded in 2006 after Hurricane Katrina left Louisiana'sSt. Bernard Parish 100% uninhabitable. The nonprofit rebuilds homes across the country with the help of more than 130,000 volunteers.

The Snyder family's home was left uninhabitable by Hurricane Michael in 2018, according to an AT&T news release.

SBP will use the AT&T Foundation grant to repair the home's roof, windows and drywall.

AT&T and the AT&T Foundation have been working with SBP to bring people together to build homes and bridge the gap for those in need, the release said.

"At AT&T, we're proud to employ a large number of military veterans, and we are pleased to support their families today and every day," said Ray Walker, AT&T regional external affairs director. "Our nation's service men and women make sacrifices to protect our country and our freedoms, and we see it as an honor to help them rebuild."

For information about getting involved in rebuilds, call SBP at 850-252-6202.
